Hi all, I heard that doing directory submissions in these days has no use and there is a chance to become spam. Can any one has idea about this?
yeah I am experiencing less effect from directory submissions. i guess link building works better if we do get links from related websites.
It will look like spam if you will do so much directory submission per day which is you are not doing it often as before.
I think you are wrong. Any kind of backlink has some value in SEO. Directory submission is one of the preliminary ways of getting backlinks and there is some value and significance.
As long as the directories you submit to are reliable and not of the spammy variety I am sure it will benifit your website and bring traffic.
If you submit your site into zero rank directories than it may not so fruitful but if you make submission after searching a good ranking directory than it will take good effect on your SERPs.
Most web directories nowadays are spam sites. They don't review the content submitted, and so, the quality is easily degraded from the start. Don't take that all directories are like this, however. If you are going to submit to any web directories at all, I would say that you should choose those of them that are aged and have some reputation. And by reputation, I don't mean in anyway a paid directory. Just because you have to pay for a listing doesn't make the directory any more reputable than the next one. There are some crappy paid ones, too. Maybe it would be even better to delve into niche directories, if not for the sake of it being a web directory, simply for the chance at laser targeted traffic. It never hurts to try, but even so, you must still be careful so that your site doesn't get lumped into the same ring as those that truly are "spam."
I don't think. for me it is better way to create backlink to my site. rather automated submission can be banned by the big G.
Your going to get mixed answers here because alot of members either have directories, sell links or services on directories, or depend on directories for traffic.
Its not very powerful link building technique but yes it works. Choose some best quality directories for submission like dmoz, joeant, skaffe even Yahoo directory (if free option available)
