Spambots: Will they get me banned?

    Hi folks,

I noticed that I've been frequently visited by "visitors" with unknown domain names, just IP addresses. I understand that some of these "visitations" were done by search engine spiders/crawlers. That's ok. We all like our little site visited by these friends.

However, I've also been bombarded by spam almost everyday. How did I know it's spam? It's been entering the same babble in the comments each time "it" posts. We all know AdSense ads still get to displayed when these bots spam my site resulting in invalid impressions. Will AdSense ban me because of this?

Regarding your spam problem, are you using Wordpress? If so, check out Bad Behaviour and Spam Karma 2 immediately.

Secondly, no - Google will not ban you for having visitors, real or otherwise. They are more concerned with click-fraud than spam bots visiting your site.

Right, It doesn't matter to google where you get the traffic from. Even google also send bots to get information about your site. Even if the bots are spam, you don't need to worry.

No, I'm not using WP. It's another blog software that unfortunately doesn't have the feature mentioned.

    That's not true :)
Spambots don't understand JavaScript - Ads are not displayed(turn off JavaScript in your browser and try to see Google Ad :) ), so Google even don't know about this visitors.

Think about moving to Wordpress - it's really worth.

Thanks for correcting me about the AdSense javascript code. I forgot about that. Javascript code isn't visible to both spiders and spambots. *bonkers* That's when you get when you worry too much. LOL!

I've tried WordPress and it's an impressive piece of software both the WordPress hosted blogs and the downloadable version. Unfortunately, I'm on a Windows server and I could only use ASP Classic & .Net for scripting.
