Are these sites considered spamy? They have to be. There is so much dup content on these sites it's rediculous. Can anyone shed some light on the tactic here? Thanks. http://www.nebraskahunting.net/ http://www.nebraskacityhunting.com/ http://www.merriamsturkey.com/ http://www.snowgoosehunts.net/ http://www.waterfowloutfitter.com/ http://www.nebraskapheasants.com/ http://www.waterfowlhunters.com/ http://www.nebraskapheasants.org/ http://www.nebraskahunts.net/ http://www.huntingoutfitter.net/ http://www.wildpheasant.com/ http://www.nebraskaoutfitters.org/
If this post is spam, it's the best one I've ever seen. If it's not spam, yes there is lots of duplicate content within those pages, it'll give them some trouble.
Check the defination of spam. Just because its dupe content or near dupe it doesnt mean it is spam i.e. wikipedia.
I don't promote these clowns whoever they are. A couple people I talked to wanted to know if this was illegal or really an aggressive SEO technique? If I submit to Google, MSN, Yahoo, will they remove the URL's from the index? Is that what you would do? I am a newb here, so I figured a few of you SEO guru's could give me info on what to do, or what they are doing.
I think 3plains is trying to work out why his pheasant hunting client is being kicked about in the serps by the sites he's listed.
Why would this be illegal and by what law? I can build thousands of sites with the same content and it would never be deemed illegal. Aggressive SEO? Nah, but maybe aggressive and somewhat successful marketing tactic that can work for some. Feel free to submit to the Search Engines but will they remove it? Probably not, I have seen a lot worse than this that still remains in their index. What would I do? As the saying goes if you cant beat them join them.
All of the URLs are on the same server and IP address, which means nothing bad. They are using those keyword mixtures in various URLs because a keyword match in your URL is worth its weight in gold. Because the same IP address is linked to all of those domains they won't even trigger any red flags for duplicate content.
Don't mind us, we just get alot of spammers who plonk links down on their first post. We get a big cynical Yours checked out though and welcome to the forum. Personally I only think you could get away with complaining if the sites were actually mirrors or redirects or cloaked. By concentrating on directory submissions and building a great site you'll start to pick them off.
And there is no better place than here. As sarahk says build on your backlinks etc to better the site you are working on and you should start picking them off. If you get lucky, you might even have Google spot the dupe content and drop them from the results, something that Google is getting more aggressive on.
Spam was the incorrect verbiage for the post, as several of you SEO guru's noted. Well, thanks for the help. I hear this is where some of the heavy hitters in SEO hang out says Morgan Carey. So I figured I can learn from the big dogs, right?
