If you are willing to send in a spam report to google for another member of the forum and want to call on the help of a small coop of other webmasters to do the same, reply to this thread and express your interest. The logic behind such a coop is that if 1 person reports a spam result it can take ages to be fixed or go ignored. If however, for example 20 complaints were recieved about the same piece of spam - I guess this would prompt action on google's behalf. At present I have one I need some help reporting about and am willing to (if in my own judgement it is in fact spam) submit a spam report in support of your own report. I suggest it be done via Personal Messages, in the following format: Topic: Request for Submission of a Spam Report: Google Content: 1. Exact query that shows a problem (copy this from the Google search box): 2. Resulting Google page that shows problem (copy the Google URL): 3. The specific web page or site that is misbehaving: 4. Type(s) of problem (check all that apply): a. Hidden text or links b. Misleading or repeated words c. Page does not match Google's description d. Cloaked page e. Deceptive redirects f. Doorway pages g. Duplicate site or pages h. Other (specify) 5. Additional details: You are able to form your own judgement of the merits of a request for submission of a spam report. Who wants to trial it or needs something sent in now or is willing to be available via PM to participate? I'm also wondering... is this all it would take to get the Spam Report function working effectively for us?... lets find out.
If that was my page (I doubt it is), regardless of the content held within it, I would NOT want it reported to Google. If a site is taking part in the Coop, then you are getting something from the "spam" too. I don't report "spam" to google. You may not like what the page is doing SEO wise, but there is no reason to report it. Are we talking about sites that are running on the network here, or have I got the wrong end of the stick? I guess what I am saying is that I would not report a spam page either way, especially if it was involved with the Coop Network.
SEbasic - no, not sites that are in Shawn's coop! He has a hummer... good sign not to f' with him! LOL A coop as in, lets start a small coop of people (i.e. people who post in this thread and say they are interested) who will send in a spam report when needed. If you don't want to report a spam site no drama - but think of it this way... the more spam sites google is aware of the better index we get as: 1. the crap is gone and 2. google learns how to pick out spam more effectively 3. when it is needed, the spam report can be used effectively by the DP community
Hi Dominic, I'm in. I got a site I need reported too. PM me - Send me details of all spam sites you need reported & I'll send mine.
So the good guys are the bad guys now, huh Crazy Rob Why not report those who break the guidelines CR
It's no big deal, I'm just goffin' with you guys! Go ahead and report all you want! I don't let "spam" bother me because: A: Fighting "spam" is a battle you CAN'T WIN (or at least one that will never end)! B: I feel that if the "spam" sites are bad then people will hit the back button anyway. And if they're actually what the searcher was looking for then who cares how the site got to that position! C: I don't belive in tattling. **Now email spam is another story! I will do whatever I can to fight that!
