The adm of a server I use says that my domain once a week gets hundred thousands of spam emails and that it is killing the server. I have never heard of this problem before. How can I fix this?
Do you have a type of anti spam program in your control panel that can be activated? Also make sure that a catch all is not activated to grab every email that gets sent to your domain. Also ask him if he can set up an SPF record for you for people that spoof your email as well.
I think your admin needs to be more specific than that. Especially since he would be able to see what's going on better than you
It comes in to the server. He says that he thinks the emails comes from infected pc`s around the world and that the IP`s are not registered in any records.
okay, what i currently do now with my box is just send everything over to google for them to deal with, they do all the filtering and everything there and you can have your own domain name/pop3 account with out the use of any of your server resources. if you don't want to that you could also try installing something like spam assassin.
yeah, you can use your email address it will be you can sign up for google aps at https://www.google.com/a/ you can have up to 150 email addresses to start and you can request more but i think that 2gig of space they give you is split between all email addresses.
