I am starting an incentive site giving away a very unique product. (I don't want to say what it is becaue I want to protect my idea until I actually go live with the site). I need to have images of the product, and I need to figure out how to get images that I am allowed to use. It seems like the actual company that makes the product would be unwilling to let me use their images. The reason that I think this is because their affiliate program specifically says that you may not advertise your website using keywords that are related to their product name. Obviously, I want to use such keywords. So I am wondering how I might go about getting images. Should I order one of the products and have it shipped to a photographer/graphic designer, or is there another way?
You can either buy the product and pay a photographer to do the Product Shots or buy the photographs online from an image bank (for ex. gettyimages.com). However, you are telling me that it's an specific product, so it's harder to find it. What I don't know is if doing any of these is going to cause you trouble, since the company already told you they didn't want you to have their photographs.
They didn't tell me they didn't want me to have their photographs. They just prohibit affiliates (who they give images to) from using their product name in PPC campaigns. So I can't sign up as an affiliate for them (though it wouldn't make much sense, since I will be giving the product away for free).
