Sorted.Name is an attempt to try and work out what the internet public are finding important. The main news websites around offers a glimpse of what’s popular, but as with all things that’s limited to the audience of that site. While this gives a somewhat true to form view of what people are interested in, I wanted to expand it, and thus came up with the Sorted.Name site. The main site isn’t that impressive design wise, as the main focus was on the backend. The script uses several external APIs from blogging communities, search engines and social networking sites to work out what people are talking about. It’s not 100%, and sometimes odd results show. Unlike Digg.com and other sites using the same method Sorted.Name cannot be manipulated as easily. I personally feel the site can work alongside of Digg, not as a rival but an alternative option. A small but interesting feature is the Balance Chart. Using the same data from the Algo sorted it works out if the public are more interested in a select few events, or generally more spread out. For example if there was a major terrorist attack the pie chart would show a few very large segments, but on a normal day it tends to be pretty split up. Love to know your views: http://sorted.name If you have a website which you would like Sorted.name to parse let me know. Also really looking to find other game websites etc, so let me know any you might know off!
Not bad, very simple, but I don't really like the color scheme. I think it would be best to introduce one more color, instead of a grayscale layout. Also, I would try to make the purpose and function of the site a little more evident. Right now, if I were just glancing at it, I might mistake it for an ad/parked placeholder page with a bunch of links.
