So i just finished recording about an hour of footage going from my camera directly to my external hard drive using sony vegas. The post recording dialog box came up and i hit delete files instead of save...i know good job right? well im looking to see if there is a way to recover the files or if their are temp files stored somewhere. ive searched high and low and cant seem to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You'll most likely need a file recovery utility. First thing to note is to try and not do any operation on the pc that writes to disc - as the hard disk areas where the file was stored will now be marked as empty, any further writing to disk may overwrite these areas which would corrupt any retrieved file. I'd recommend either removing the hard drive and inserting it as an auxiliary drive on another pc then trying the file recovery from there, or use a file recovery utility that is 'portable' i.e runs off of a usb stick and doesn't install to hard drive.
