What is Songr? We've all had those days where we've ran through all our songs; getting tired of listening to that one artist over and over on shuffle. Even after digging through iTunes, there's still no music! Well, Songr helps with exactly that. It doesn't matter if you're a stay at home dad, or a soccer mom, or a pirate on trial; everybody can easily submit what they're listening to and share it with the world. Visitors can then bump the song up or down, letting other visitors know whether the song is good or bad. How do I pronounce Songr? It's pronounced like longer, so [sawng-ger]. But you can say it however you want, I mean, it's a free country right (well, for most of us)? How do I submit? It's quite simple actually. On the homepage, there's a little area filled with fields where you can submit the songs you like. Remember, always capitalize when necessary and keep everything legit (as in the literal meaning). Where do I get the videos? It is highly recommended that you get the videos from YouTube.com, specifically the Vevo channel. Look at the sidebar and search for the song, or simply search your song name with vevo as one of the keywords on the YouTube homepage. Most of the time, the username for an official Vevo uploader appears as chrisbrownvevo or beyoncevevo. Do I have to pay? Not at all, not one cent comes from your pockets in order to use Songr. Well, unless you count the internet bill..and the price of your computer..and the cost of your glasses..and your time.. What if I find a fake song entry? By all means, please do contact us. Click the contact link above and select "Fake/Broken Entry". Enter the title and artist into the message box and send. By doing this, you'll helping Songr grow that much more! What if I have more questions? Well, there's always the contact button located in the navigation.
Thanks, and yes, it is quite like Digg for music. Furthermore, by simply clicking on the play button, you can listen to the music from YouTube.
Thanks, and I see from your username that you're a Leona Lewis fan; maybe add bleeding love? Anyhow, I'll be working into adding individual pages for artists and genres in the near future.
Open search is now implemented, lyrics are in the planning. Comment and feedback (especially bugs) are appreciated!
I would fixed width it, and shrink down the size of the graphics. The arrows are just too freaking huge and you could have more on the page if you shrank them down a bit. Overall the design a concept is excellent. I would just tweak it to look a bit more professional. Trying too hard to be twitter-like. Interesting use of the "pull from youtube" scripting. Good idea, should do well. Might also think of putting the ads on top rather than bottom if you want a better conversion rate. Maybe find a way to integrate it more into the structure of the site.
I see what you mean, I'll look into shrinking the graphics. I'm currently deciding as to what to do, as I've received comments about keeping the size and enlarging. Anyhow, ads (that can be rated up and down) are being planned as of now, just finalizing the script. Btw, the site's already fixed width, optimized for 1024x768px view.
