Hi Chuck, First, I am skeptical because this is your first post and you have a referral link in it where you will compensate. This is usually a red flag here on DP. Secondly, both you and the creators of this site call it an affiliate program, but it appears it is really nothing more than an MLM disguised as an affiliate program. Any "affiliate program" that goes beyond 2 levels is really an MLM by definition, and this one goes down 8 levels. A sign that this probably won't last is this sentence. "A feature that makes Friendswin.com unlike any other social networking site is an affiliate compensation plan that pays significant commissions for referrals." Eventually, like most MLMs, it will need more and more "referrals" to make payouts. People will become disenchanted and it will go belly up....like most MLMs eventually do. It seems the bulk of the payouts will come through new signups and not the "affiliate aspect" if there really is one. Other "signals" that this is nothing more than an MLM are terms used like "ground-floor opportunity to assist us in signing up customers", "Independent Marketing Representatives", and "Our Team Leader Is". These are all MLM terms and not used in affiliate marketing. And, your team leader is a man who is heavily into MLMs. This may have an affiliate aspect, but it is not an affiliate program....just another MLM. Jim
I'm still new at this, I guess you could call it part MLM, part Affiliate. All paying accounts will have a small reoccurring monthly charge which should allow it to last indefinitely. I don't see why it would end with the monthly fees in place. Usually I ignore 99% of the offers that clog-up my e-mail but this one is much more feasible than what I usually see and I'm going to give it a go. Oh I found this message board by search engine. Sorry to be late to this thread Jim: It's not a full MLM because you can have free members too thus the Affiliate part. You won't make much money from them unless they buy something for a few days(video dating). That's why I got in the first place(free members). I knew that if it where a true MLM, that eventually it would collapse. Free members pay to have access to certain services if and when they want them. It's my first social network and like the ideal that I can have a little piece of the pie . Glad I made my own affiliate program with only 2 levels. chuck1960: The Video Dating portion is very cool.
