Something wrong with my keyword. Or is it me?

    Hi,

There is this keyword that my site ranks number 1 in google. According to Wordtracker and many other tools there is a search count of 300/day in Google. Yet, I get only 1 or 2 per day.

Are the tools wrong or is there something else?

    Thanks
    Al

It sucks when that happens doesn't it?

Looking at the keyword (i can understand you not wanting to share it of course) does it look like something that would be searched for 300 times a day?

Sometimes results from wordtracker (or any source for that matter) don't look right. I suspect that there are those out there that do things to manipulate the keyword results (one technique known as black hole seo does this).

I run into ones sometimes that seem like a great keyword to focus on because of the high keyword search count and low competition, but if the keyword just doesn't look like something that people are typing in X amount of times per day, I definitely question the validity of the results.

Oh no, this one definitely is searched. There are top sites like MSNBC and AOL on this keyword. I recently saw CNN also on this keyword. I am wondering if people are preferring these 3 known sites for my unknown one. Plus it is not just wordtracker. I checked at least 5 different sources. They all have similar numbers.

That certainly is odd. Do you think that you could tweak the description of the site to make it more appealing for people to click through from the search results?

Yes that is what I did since my last post in this thread. Yahoo has indexed the new text, but hasnt sent one visitor and my ranking is #4 on page 1.

So far Google is sending about 4-5 visitors everyday. I verified the search count with Google's own database and yes, the numbers are again similar. Around 300/day.

Plus, my domain name is also catchy. I feel like an idiot.
