They may require more services like police, road clean up for part falling off their old cars (I had a tired tread hit my 2004 vehicle from an early 90's Buick and amigo didn't even look around when it happened to give an "I'm sorry' look, and good luck finding a picnic table at the beach. I'm not really in touch with meat packing. How'd the unions let that slip away? Food is expensive, I love paying $50 for a so-so meal, who's keepin all the money?
Very simple, and very effective. But also, you need to hand out big fines to employers for hiring them. With no jobs, they will self migrate.
Most of Paul's platforms are simple, straight and direct. Not a whole lot of double talk or playing to popular positions/special interests. The problem with the illegal immigrants is that we make them legal if they beat the system, and then the American taxpayer enables that by providing an entitlements scheme as a reward for illegally immigrating. Instead of fining big business, it might be time for people to take personal accountability for how their tax dollars are spent. No status, no healthcare, no citizenship, no education, they will stop immigrating.
THIS IS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE Undocumented (illegal) aliens are required to register for the draft (http://www.sss.gov/must.htm) Some statistics in construction specialties, illegal immigrants range from 20 percent of carpet, floor and tile installers to 28 percent of drywallers to 36 percent of insulation workers. Overall, about 14 percent of all workers in the construction industry are in the United States illegally. 22 percent of maids and housekeepers (including domestic help) are in the United States illegally. Similarly, in restaurants an estimated 20 percent of cooks and 23 percent of dishwashers are illegal immigrants. more info for all your hiring needs http://illegalaliensforhire.com/
Employers also will migrate with them. And pretty much most of the agriculture which is currently done in US also.
It will be so easy to eradicate the illegal immigration at the embassies...So easy...Why they don't do it? I don't know...They might have a profit somewhere...The governement just needs these people...acting just right to show to Americans that it's doing something...not enough to make sure they have their illegal aliens...
I don't believe they would. Perhaps our food sources might change, but the farmers are going hungry as-is anyhow. We will still need construction workers and our lawns will still need to be mowed. We may end up paying more there, and less for healthcare though... but i'm willing to accept that.
Employers may migrate to where the labor is cheaper, but you simply remove the incentive to produce imports by setting tariffs.
I am sacrificing time on DP and mowing my own lawn. There's plenty of money in the food business to pay an entry level wage.
Immigration is a delicate topic, with many facets and complexities, and there's no simple solution. However, I think one issue should be addressed immediately. Border security should be on the top of every politicians list of things to do. It blows my mind how politicians can sit there and say they are all for protecting America, and at the same time do nothing to stop the flow of undocumented people crossing the border. Shut the borders and secure America. Then deal with all the illegal immigrants.
In Canada we do not have an illegal immigration problem. That is why companies have to pay $20 for people to work on farms and why people make $100,000 working jobs in the artic that no one wants to do. Sounds like illegal immigration is just a way to keep wages low.
There is no illegal immigration in Canada because they have resolved the problem at the source: embassies.
Actually, the solution is pretty simple: Enforce the law, and stop letting people break it. It is against the law for illegals to be here, so they shouldn't be, and I don't know why some people in this thread insist on defending them. Do you defend a rapist? Do you defend a drunk driver who runs over a five year old? Do you defend a murderer? No, because they all have one thing in common, and they're breaking the law. Illegal immigration is exactly that: ILLEGAL. The immigrants and company's that hire them should be punished. The wages have been driven down because of them, and the U.S. is turning into a third world country. Everybody in the world wants to come here, because the governments in their countries suck. The problem is, the U.S. can only hold so many people.
We've got wars on terror, drugs and poverty. Seems that one war on illegal immigration could help solve all three.
One little difference though: The murderer makes himself illegal. The governement makes immigrants illegals
You're a little off base on that one. Rule of Law is the foundation of the Republic. There is an immigration process, just as there is a process for resolving disputes. Bypassing those processes is what is illegal, not the whim of the government. Most if not all western countries have immigration standards and channels.
Eww, illegal immigration. It needs to be stopped. I hate how everyone goes on about how America was built on immigration. You know what? So was every other country. The people that make up those other countries had to come from somewhere. Waaayyy back in the beginning, humans migrated to different parts of the world and eventually made countries. Only difference is that our immigration was much more recent then theirs. So yeah, we started being built with immigration - but we're full now, we don't need anymore people. And, has anyone looked at how people live in Tokyo or other highly highly highly dense areas? That's how the US will look if we just legalize all the illegals. We'll all pay an arm and a leg to live in an expensive and suffocatingly small apartment, with our neighbors too close for comfort. This country can't support everyone. Now, I have nothing against LEGAL immigration. Some people come here because they like it here, some people come here for a better life. And if you're coming here for a better life then I don't understand why some of them don't put forth the effort to come here legally. That way they could fully enjoy the benefits and not have to hide. I plan on moving to another country and I plan on doing it legally. I don't know why some other people refuse to. It may not be the fastest way to get over here, but if it's something you really want then it will be worth it.
Tell me why this is not the dumbest post of the day. The government dragged them across the border and the government forced the government not to enforce the law? OK, maybe the second part is true. Still, I nominate "The governement makes immigrants illegals" as the dumbest statement of the day.
Did anyone catch that illegal aliens are required to register for the draft per Selective Service Regulations (http://www.sss.gov/must.htm) Its a big myth that we need illegals to harvest the crops. Only 3.4 percent of illegals are argicultural workers. Any shortage is due to high turnover. The illegals learn that they can make more money washing dishes and quit. So thats the problem. The agribusiness is leaking a constant supply of more illegals. It to the point where the illegals skip the agricultural work and head directly to the higher pay service jobs. Agribusiness is the US is Big Business. Don't be fooled. I'll name names: Cargill, Monsanto, ConAgra Foods Inc., Archer Daniels Midland Co., Dole Food Company, Inc., Sunkist, Chiquita, Del Monte Foods. They spread around a lot of campaign donations and have a lot of congressman in their pockets. We can live with the sitituation as it is now. The problem will come when you grant amnesty to the 12 million that are here now and the same businesses bring in another 12 million to replace them.
You hit the nail on top of the head with that one. I wouldn't mind visiting Tokyo, but I definitely don't want to live there. The city is extremely crowded, and expensive. But at least Tokyo is clean. God, you look at Mexico City, Rio, and Calcutta, and it is pretty disgusting. 46% of the Earth is not inhabited, and this doesn't even include the oceans. I don't see why people have to crowd on top of each other in these major cities, and that is exactly why I won't live in a city with more than 200,000 people. I mean, I don't want to live in some small town with no attractions or things to do, but screw living in these mega cities with 10s of millions of people. This completely shatters "the American was built by immigrants" argument. It is the truth to, because if you believe that humans all came from Africa, then we are all basically descendants of immigrants.
