I have had something startng happen on my mobile site last few days. Basically I hjave had about 50 new registrations within a 24 hour period from the folllowing:

    IP: 66.249.73.56
    Browser: Nokia 6820

Now if it was 1 or 2 then i would be ok, but 50 or so, it is really wierd. Now i did a whois on the ip and got the following

So is this a google bot who is coming to my site and registering like mad?? I didnt know the google bot could come in and register on wap wml pages. Anyway I debated on putting this in google forums but said no, if its wrong, please kindly move.

Now what may be causing this? Could it rreally be google or is it just a coincidence?

Do you do any form checking on the registration page? If the bot can just post the data and register a new account it seems like a bad form. The googlebot tries to post anything and everything it can. It does not try to fill out forms though for the most part. I would suggest looking to see what info was collected and try to fix the form.

You could also use the robots.txt to block the bot from accessing that page.

yeah, I have looked into it and google just ran wild on my site and uses that particular browser. Oh well. Best thing to do is to block it with robots.txt

    thanks
