I bought a Mobile from ebay and arrived in Egypt in less than 10 days , But My country wants 10% of the price as customs , I said ok Here's it , then they told me this is considered as Importing products you have to get a License from the Ministry of Telecom to Take the phone :D I told them its for personal use only , They told me we don't approve that and you've to get the license to prove that the mobile is allowed to Enter the country if you want it for personal use :D what a stupid people !

I wonder if I bought a computer online will I have to go to the Ministry of Technology to get a license for it ?! :D What do you think of this ?! ‹(•¿•)›

well this happens mostly, few years back, i sent a Laptop to my Friend in pakistan, and custom authorities stopped the delivery, asking for a custom duty tax.

After completing the tax issue, the laptop was delivered.

I keep on sending Mp-3, Mp-4 players and USB Drives to my friends in Pakistan and other countries, but never faced this problem.

Regarding your cell phone, i think paying tax is a valid reason of stopping delivery, but asking for a license is not fine thats something stupid to ask.

Ya offcourse you need a license but only in case, if you take electronic goods for business deals.
Thats we call a TNT taken from income tax department.

In France we call it as Tax Duty Fee, and its been paid as 23% upon the basic price of the item.

Tax varies according to country policies, since you mentioned for 10%, so may be Egypt got it as 10% custom Duty.
