I can't believe it but someone has stolen an old version of my blog and even put my adsense on it!

The URL of the thieving site is:

    financialcharting.blogspot.com

I've emailed Google as I don't want someone violating the TOS in my name, but I just can't believe how cheeky some people can be!!!!!

Check their whois and send an email to their host saying that you are seeking legal advice.. they will shut down the site in 3 seconds

Edit... never mind, just saw it is from blogger...

Amazing! Why dont they put their own adsense code? Do they want the money to go to someone else?

But this is distrubing as anyone can put your adsense code and get you into trouble.

Got a worthless response from Adsense. They say I should contact the hijacker to get it resolved. Can't they just block everything from that URL?

I can't wait for MSN and Yahoo to bring out their rival products.

Fryman, what are WMW and ASA? I'm fairly new to this and don't know those abbreviations. I'm going to try contact blogger over it in a minute as well.

Sarah - no, that isn't me. I'm the cute little cat. I don't know whether or not people think it's serious. It's half fantasy half true.

There is a guy with the nickname adsenseadvisor, he posts over there and is from Google. You should let them know the lame response they gave to your complaint

That's the most bizarre thing I've ever heard...Google ought to be taking this very seriously as it leaves publishers wide open to attack from malicious types; what would happen to your account if he added 'click on the google ads' above the ads? The whole thing stinks. It would be easy enough to fix too, URLs could be specified in your account and then you'd have control over exactly where ads are served.

    Cheers

We had a situation similar to yours a few months back. An old version of our site was under someones domain. Long story short. When they had registered the domain the provider entered the wrong ip and it was pointing to a dedicated server we were testing on. That site was the default on our server.

Google isn't stupid. If you have ever logged into Adsense you get some kind of super cookie. All your info is loged by google. So, if you later on start posting other people's code on your sites, Google knows that it isn't done by the owner of that account.

These are just myths that scare people, don't spread them around. Once again, Google knows much more than you could imagine and they aren't stupid, that's why they are such a huge empire now.

Just asking, if you use some-ones elses publishing tools (ie blogger) who has rights to the content? I know that under federal law, all your creations are yours(goverment workers have different rules), but in the TOS do you sign away those rights?

    LMAO! that is too funny.

I agree, Google has their ways of checking, otherwise there would be a rash of competitors try to ban each other from adsense.

personally I think you should move on and take it as a compliment... You could spend alot of your time on this and get zero results.

I seems to be a trend... I have so much stuff stolen from my site it wanna makes me cry... and when I did contact adsense they also gave me a lame excuse... but the best excuses come from the theives themselves... I've heard it all:

    eg: Elvis fans should share
eg: I'm just a single parent trying to earn some extra money
eg: I thought everything on the net is free

Well I am a single mom and have put in four years of work to get my site to rank in the top ten on all major SE (until google did a re-vamp) now I can't find my site anywhere under my four major search terms...

I feel for you.... do try and contact the host.... it works sometimes.... I'm still hunting down 8 theives ... to no avail... best of luck
