The second PM seems a bit more legit, I would have to say. I have a spare reseller account, if you want to transfer your files there, and sell it to "her", I'll be happy to let you use it for a few days on the house. If she doesn't pay, you can lock her out.
yeah the second PM sounds more natural. she said she tried to look me up on whois but it's private. i removed the private registration and told her that i did so. that should be enough to prove that i own the domain. she has sent me an email from her domains, so that proves she owns the domains too. i'm not really concerned with her 'not paying', i'm only concern with chargebacks and what nots.
It does seem like she took time to make sure that your domain was legit. Be careful about email forgers too, because she could make it look like it's coming from the domain, unless you can carry out a conversation. I'm curious about reseller accounts. Can someone explain this more to me? Is this only if you wanted to sell the host too? What protection does a reseller account offer you?
chargeback protection- make a paypal personal account. You will be notified if its a credit card payment, and you can deny it. Tell her not to make a credit payment, if you see it is a carded payment, send a refund, and don't send the files. Then, move the money to your business account
I have to agree the PM's posted were very fishy sounding especially the english. I would only deal after a phone call!! Call the number on the website 'she' owns and ask for her. One call can clear up a lot.
The thing is with a reseller account or a dedicated server you are setting up the individual cpanel accounts in WHM (the main control panel for the server). So if you even give them the passwords etc if they chargeback you can always lock them out using the master control panel. The problem still arises though with the domain and nameservers. Never push the domain until the very last thing and you ahve the cold hard cash in your hands.
in this case i guess escrow can help you out ...another point which i would like to tell you that a buyer with itrader0 does not mean he is fake i have seen no. of buyers on DP in services section but not heard any cheating case till date on dp...so you go ahead.
It looks like the transaction has taken the safest route with Escrow; Paypal alone is just too risky.
registrar yet to completely transfer domain ownership, though she has informed escrow that she had access to the website files. she called me yesterday. that's funny. we talked abit, seems she's from germany and came to the US 22 years ago. everything looks good so far.
domain transfer completed. she sent me a WEBSITE AGREEMENT (2 pages and all the legal talk ) and asked me to sign it and she will release the funds from escrow. i guess it's a touchdown after all.
