I've had www.nutri-facts.com for over 6 years now. The site has always paid for itself and made me some money on the side by selling advertising space. My Google AdSense revenue is between $200-300 per month. The site averages about 15k hits per day (over 5 million per year). A company recently contacted me about purchasing the site. After reviewing the server logs, they have offered me $8500. I don't need to sell the site, but I always thought that if someone made the right offer, I would let it go. Is this a decent offer or should I expect more? Thanks.
That is not a bad offer if you go by the rule of, monthly income multiplied by 10-12. By any chance do you promote the site, keep it up to date, and put time into improving it? If not you should and ramp up your profits even more. Take my advice lightly I am still a beginner. Good luck
Most webmasters including myself value adsense based sites @ 6 x Monthly Income. But you have added value in the domain being 6 years old (valueable commodity at the moment). I think $8500 is a very good deal.
6 year old domain...to sell would be like selling a child! Just my opinion. Yes, if you update the site, put in good content, etc... with those numbers of visitors, you should make a heck of a lot more per month. Got adsense? Shake it up and test placement. And offer that company ad space for major bucks. Then the leery side of me comes out. Getting an email wanting to buy a site sounds fishy as heck to me. Be careful dealing with them.
In my opinion you shouldn't be selling this domain. You have 6 year old domain + PR 5 and google adsense. As iowadawg suggested try different placement with google adsense. I am sure you can earn more than $300 per month
