Someone trying to clone my site on a freelancer site

    Hi,

I was just disturbed to find someone posting a project on a popular programming site (scriptlance) basically saying:

"I want someone to clone ------.com"

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I'm sure this has happened to others out there.

    Thanks!

Not much you can do, as this happens quite often. You can hire a lawyer to send a Ceast and Desist letter for about 50 bucks and see what that does. That's assuming you can find an address, or valid email.

That won't do much good if they live in another country either. If they are stealing your images and copy, you can contact the datacenter in which they host the clone, and file a copyright complaint. Also, try and contact the freelance site with a copyright complaint.

Basically, what you need to do is make everyone aware that you are the owner of the site being cloned and that you don't like it, using whatever tactics, means you have available.

    Good luck!

Usually when someone wants a clone of a certain site it is mostly pertaining to the design of the site and not the content, this may be the case in this situation.

yeah I have seen this before with our sites. Most of the time they just waste their money.
