Someone Threatening to Sabotage My Account

Someone is threatening to click my google ads to get back at me for breaking my business relationship with him.

In fact, he says he has already clicked the ads this afternoon, but I'm not sure if he's serious. I had to stop working with him because he is a loose cannon and refuses to be professional so I'm worried about what he might do.

Should I report this to Google? My earnings are not inflated so I'm thinking he is just trying to scare me.

Does anyone have any advice on this? :(

let google know of this, in the meantime what you should do is install asrep to monitor the clicks, if you see someone clicking multiple times, block his ip range with htaccess

Hi - what's asrep? I'll go look it up in Google.

He just told me he hasn't clicked the ads, that he was only kidding, but I don't find it funny at all. I was almost in tears thinking he would do such a thing.

    Tell Google, RIGHT NOW.

This happened to me a while back, and I lost a $9000 check and google wouldn't unsuspend my account, I was fucking pissed.

I had to go register a business, change the domain names on my websites, make a new layout... I lost three months worth of revinue because of that.

When people fuck with your account, google just doesn't care. It isn't worth their time to bother with it. They ban you and that's the end of that. They won't even listen to you when you tell them that someone was trying to get you banned.

This is exactly what happened to me but they didnt tell me what they were doing till it was a done deal.

I emailed Google saying I didnt know what was happening to my account cause out of the BLUE I was getting massive amounts of clicks...

It was a relationship gone bad and he accomplished what he wanted to do.

Google emailed me back saying I was banned because of the invalid clicks I had told them about..

Sucks but what do ya do....Google doesnt care and want even talk to you about nothing.....Banned is Banned.

I have Kanoodle now and they really suck.

Good luck....I hope your outcome doesnt end up like mine did....

The sad thing is, anyone on this site could easily get anyone else banned. That's why I don't give out the URL's to my websites.

All you have to do is make a page on your site, put someones ads on that page, and put "Please click the ads below" --> Report the page to google.

Suddenly that person is banned... It's total bullshit how Google deals with stuff like that.

IMO, they should have an option that makes it so ads can only be displayed on websites that YOU approve in your adsense control panel, and if more than one click is logged in one day, that person is banned from clicking your ads.

I'm afraid to report it now because of what Chico wrote - that he reported it to them beforehand and then they banned him. I am convinced now that this person did not really click. Revenue for today is normal. But I'm uncertain... it just isn't fair that anyone can sabotage us like this.

I actually suggested this to Google not long ago....

They really should have a feature that allows you to identify your sites where ads are running.

But please do not advise them to allow only one click per day from one ip:eek: it is often that visitors click more of your ads because of pure interest and not to sabotage you.

I would like to hear more about a good program to monitor clicks on a site so that when you see abnormal activity related to one ip or multiple you can make an judgementcall as fast as possible and block those ip's.

So a good monitoring program easy to use for everybody and a ip block program that is easy to use....anybody know of these?

A lot of us would like to know probably:cool:

If things look normal I wouldnt say anything to Google......Mine was obvios so the ban was coming I think even without my email....

Im an honest person and would never steal a dime from anyone...It really made me feel bad when it happened because I knew inside that I personally didnt do anything.

Simple advise - no one can possibly be that stupid. Surely.
Personally I'd advise Google that I'd received these threats.

Then I'd watch my stats. If it started to happen then, well knee caps are very very fragile things, and for quite small amounts of money they can be made to disintegrate.
Threaten my family (or the income that provides for my family) and I would have no quarms with destroying your way of life - should you attempt to carry out the threat. I really would find it remarkable that anyone would be so stupid as to announce that they were going to do this.
Many people think that it's possible to do things anonymously on line. You'd be amazed at how very very very few people have any idea what is involved in remaining anonymous - let alone have the skills or resources to do so. Personally, in the situation mentioned, I wouldn't bother with the facts. It could simply be a massive coincidence (doubtful but possible) but that's they're problem not mine.

As others have mentioned above: G does not care about their publishers too much, especially those publishers who don't make more than $5,000 per month, IMO.

They could simply invalidate accidental or suspicious clicks (like YPN is doing now) without terminating accounts. I really don't understand the thinking over @ GPlex.

My account was "disabled". Could have been sabotage; some idiot from Usenet threateneded to sabotage my AS account and shut down my flagship blog; that was a month or so before I got the dreaded "invalid clicks" email from Team G. This guy had the skills and the connections: he failed to shut down my blog, but he could have used IP cloaking to get my account disabled.

Anyway, I hope your account is safe. The best you can do is to try and keep an open line of communication with G.

Yes, they invalidate those clicks. But nobody knows how many accidental clicks it takes to get banned with AS. They'll just ban you and send you a canned email. With Y!, on the other hand, their attitude is:
