I'm curious now, how did you convince him . . . especially after he refused to initially pay you? Did you threaten to use his previous emails (as proof?) .... don't forget....ANY email agreements can (and have been!) used in a legal court in various internet law suits!!
USE 'EM! and by the way....CONGRATS....you certainly should be getting around $200 and more for your designs though....you are doing yourself a great disservice by not charging decent prices. I should have charged a web designer here to build my website when I started out....gladly would have paid him fifty or seventy five bucks!
    HA!

Whoa! Used clip art? Well, then again....some clip art companies offer images FREE....that is another black mark on the business...where companies are giving clip art away for free....

It would be good getting Scury's spin on this....i.e. if the clip art company where that image was acquired actually allows FREE complete usage (and in a contract that transfers all rights). The actual copyright is the issue. As you'll notice, there is alot of free work available but many variables apply. So again, it would be good hearing Scurv's spin....and what about a look at the design?

Maybe this shows the type of client you get when you only charge $5 per logo.

With the greatest of respect, you know that people can earn over $500 per logo?? I hope you don't take that in the wrong way, but when you charge more you find a different type of client that will respect your time and skills.

Well said iamchrisgreen....you hit the nail on the head...I have received 40 and 50X more than what that guy paid Scurv. You need to reevaluate your abilities if you decide to seriously invest time in doing future logos.

It's the internet, there is nothing you can do but get over it. There may be a thousand different sites using the logo as far as you know. I'm always amazed at how people think that something that is public can be protected. It simply can't.

Use the ebay or Nike logo and start a business using it, see what happens!

When adding watermarks, I really suggest massive watermarking.. This means use it all over the image(s).. I have sold a few logos myself, and I just do this.. I also make the "SAMPLE" in .jpg/.jpeg, reduces quality and makes theft less common.. @dinrock's site looks legit though.

treat this as a lesson in using brutally strong watermarks, always protect yourself:)

Hi BullWebHost: Not sure what is happening between yourself and the other dude. Sorry to hear this. The internet is meant to be fun and I am always sorry to see potential business relationships go in the wrong direction. Keep your focus on the projects and the bad feelings won't get you down. I hope you guys can work this out because I think DP is here to help all who have been accepted into the fold. All the best...

When stuff like this happens you may just have to chalk it up as a loss, but it allows you to think of ways to secure future connections and ways to prevent things like that from happening (perhaps do a 50% required deposit before you start... if that chases clients away, then that may not be the clients you want)... And be thankful that it was for a $5 job you're learning from, and not something bigger.
