    Hello,

I bought a website a while back, today I went on it to find that its been redirected to another site which is not mine.

Using Google webmaster tools I found out that the previous owner had changed site setttings and still was a verified owner  anyhow I have reset everything, verified site etc.. I was also able to reverse ' change of address ' (redirect).

This was done a few hours ago but it's still redirecting to the other site...
    any help....

    Thanks

    Hi,
It seems that you still have not get the ownership of your domain name. First get the details changed on your name and then login to your domain name control panel and change the settings.

If domain name and web hosting account belongs to you only I think that would not be a problem at all to change existing situation.

You need to get full ownership of the domain name, after you have get the ownership with all relevant login details as the case may be and the domain registrar, I recognized you as the value owner of the domain name. if the domain name is hosted with a hosting company, transfer the domain name to a new hosting provider.

I agree the only way to overcome the problem is to make sure that the domain is just in your name, make sure that the old owner doesn't have the hosting login details. In the mean time make sure you are the only one who has the webmaster tools login details for your account and change your hosting ftp password so that the old user cant access the site, then you need to either: 1. remove the piece of script that links the site and the previous Google webmaster tools account. or
2, there will be a html verification file in the root folder of the site this needs to be removed. Only youself will have access to making changes after you have re verified that the site is yours, as the old owner will have no way of uploading the new verification file.
