    Hello all

I recently went with yahoo web hosting. It gives me the option of creating a blog. When I activate it and try and go to the page I get a picture that basically says that I can't contact the database server at mysql.

I attempted to look this up on Google 1st to see if I could remedy this. Well, suprise suprise. I have found literally dozens of sites that descrption read the the same thing. It says:

WordPress. Error establishing a database connection ... wp-config.php file is
incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysql

Now, clicking on those blogs, I see that the problem has been remedied.

But I did find on page that shows the same thing that mine does:

Good folks, can you please tell me what I am suppose to do? It seems that this is a common problem with wordpress (this is my 1st blog), so the solution is probably well known.

    Thank you

Did you get a database name, database password and database username from Yahoo? You have to enter those into the Wordpress config.php file so wordpress knows where the data base is and how to access it.

No, on Yahoo, you have to install mysql. I have done that, but that seems to be having trouble. Everytime I attempt to login I get an error 2003 cannot connect to server.

Yahoo provides NO help for mysql or wordpress. I don't have an idea of what to do!

I dont think you should have taken hosting with Yahoo , this has complicated your life ...

There are many top class Hosts around to choose from and they have all features required.

Yeah. My income was limited, so I jumped on the offer of a 2.99 domain with a sign-up. Now I feel stupid because they won't help me at all with this problem

Could I please have a link or PM to where?

I'm canceling tomorrow. This is ridiculous. It's a case where I can't connect with mysql. And no one at Yahoo will tell me how to do so. And when I ask to speak to a supervisor, I'm told that one is not available.

Are you 100% sure you installed the mySQL correctly. Is this problem when you try to install wordpress? It should have an option that says create wp-config.php

After you installed mysql did you creat a database?
