One of my competitor has used hundreds of domains to rank for lots of keywords.

The problem is that all his sites are taking over on search results .

He is using about 400 domains with a bit different content in each .

How can i tackle this issue ?

I don't see anything wrong with what your competitor is doing to be honest.

The simple answer to your question is make your site better than his.

Quality is key, not quantity ;)

If it was quality and not quanity then he would not have a problem m8 - not exactly the best advice i have heard.

    # I will go with the phrase, if you cant beat him join him. Do exactly the same thing if he is affecting your keywords - install a wordpress blog on the sites also just to keep the content upto date. Do some homework on your competition, who he is etc so you know what you up against. If the revenue is worth fighting for then "dig in" for the long run. Also - if the keywords are niche etc i would go downn the adwords route. best of luck

:D Well it's a common approach these days to control the niche. Nothing much you can do and only way you can outperform the guy is by adding totally unique contents using well targeted keywords. You should note that the guy may have 400 sites to link and support each other but I bet all the contents are just spin off and change by adding bits and that.

Well no disrespect to his site but if he has a competitor overtaking him because he has a bunch of other sites then the quality of the OPs existing site must be crap or not as good as the person with all these other sites.

Besides, how are we meant to know what sector he is trying to rank in with nothing to go on?

A few more details from the OP would be a little better. Because unless knowing something your diagnosing a problem that your seeing blind.

    Work it out Sherlock ;)

Create your own army of sites and prepare for battle with your competition. Once the dust settles you'll see who is on top. You don't have to create 400 sites though. Even just 10 sites to fight their way into the top 10 is enough. I do this myself and I secured 7 of the top ten spots for my chosen keyword phrase within 4 months.

how many seperte class C IPs those domains are running from? thats important. i highly doubt your competitor is having 400 different hosting accounts. my guess is, they are all running from one or few seperate IPs. if thats the case, making 400 domains will not really serve any better purpose than sitewide links from one or 2 sites.
