    Hey,

Someone registered a domain that is pretty much identical to my own and it pure intent is to earn parked revenue from mistypes. Is there a way I can legally get it back, without replying to his email asking me to buy it off him for a hefty price?

If you can demonstrate trademark rights for the term/s in question, you can send him a cease and desist (C&D)
letter to transfer that domain name to you or else file a dispute. You can file either a Uniform Dispute Resolution
Policy (UDRP) administrative case or an Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) lawsuit if you're in
    the U.S.

One thing's for sure: if that person doesn't just give that domain name to you (and he doesn't really have to),
it will cost you to get that from him. It'll cost at least $1500 to file a UDRP, much more if an ACPA lawsuit.

If that person is willing to sell it for maybe less than that $1500 I mentioned, that might be more practical. But
of course, that depends on your principles, and how much you're willing to invest defending that.

Disputes happen daily. That's what courts and mediation panels are for. Good luck.
