Someone Inquiring About Direct Mailing License Of My Clickbank Product

I wanted to run this by the forum to see what you guys think. I've just received an email from a man in the UK who says he wants to sell a physical version of my product (see $31 in my sig) to his direct mailing customers. He says it would be a non exclusive license and he would be willing to pay 10 times retail (in this case that'd be $570) for it.

I just sent an email back asking a lot of questions as it seems a little strange to me. First of all I don't think he's even read the plan - and it seems very strange to me to make such an offer for something he hasn't read yet.

But, if it is legit - I'm thinking it *might* be a good idea - as long as he isn't selling it online basically. He said it could help raise brand awareness in the UK - and that does make sense.

Well - Any opinions on this? I'm not sure. Right now I'm just waiting for some clarifications from him.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you how legit it is... It could be another scam - but it could be real as well...
However, If you do find out it's for real - don't just sell him the rights for 570$... Make it 570$ + x% per each book sold...

After you get done with that, you wouldn't help me get about 46 million dollars out of a bank account in nigeria would you? I'll give most of it to you, it's just the rebels...they've killed my parents and i vow that they'll never keep my parents money.

    Cute.

I agree, it sounds very fishy. Although not quite that fishy. ;) He hasn't asked for any banking information or anything that would indicate he is trying to rip me off in that way. In my message back I indicated I would only accept payment via PayPal so if it is that kind of scam - that'll be that.

If his offer is legitimate, I would definitely setup a royalties contract.

I guess digital information products are just modern versions of mail order information products from the back of magazines. I'm sure people still make money on the snail mail products, probably just not as much.:D

I'm actually fine with a royalty free contract as long as the payment is large enough. It seems like enforcing the royalty payments would be impossible anyway. As long as he's not selling it online, I think it's fine. We'll see - I'm still negotiating with him. But he seems legit thus far.

I recently had someone make me a similar offer for around $500. They wanted rights to an ebook I was selling. It turned out to be legit. I just told him to send the money to my paypal account first, then I'd send him the rights to the ebook. He was fine with that. Which was actually surprising to me - considering I buy the rights to similar ebooks all of the time for much less than that.

$570 is not money for resell rights but a joke - especially for physical books. Make it at least 10, 000 since resell rights for physical books get to a minimum of that amount - or else a percentage of the sales like for example 25% per sale and a fixed setup cost.

Dont throw your hard work for such a lame amount!

I don't know. I don't see how it's throwing away my work. Him selling it as direct mail in UK shouldn't have any effect at all on my online sales. In fact it may even help my sales because it'll get the brand name out there more. Some people will probably "Google" the name of my product if they see an offer for it in a direct mailing. It seems like that could be a helpful thing in fact. Like free advertising. I'm looking at it like a win-win situation if the guy is really legit.

Not only do I get more capital to put into my product (and paying for things like advertising & a video spokes model) - It may also have a positive effect on sales in the long run. And he said he plans on giving away the bonuses as a CD-Rom... Those bonuses do have some affiliate links in them - so that could work out well. (assuming he doesn't mess with them of course.)
