There is something that can be done. The account that you are using right now - can be banned. ;)

The DP rules clearly state that you are only allowed to register one account per person. In the case that such an event happens, do not think that this is the end of all ends, contact the staff using: http://www.digitalpoint.com/info.html

However, it is not in any way up to the DP staff to handle personal problems. The "hack" likely happened as you obviously gave someone your password to another account (i.e. an IM account) and they took a guess out of the blue and looky-here -- a new DP account (there are definitely other possible reasons, but there really is no possible way for the "hacker" to have "hacked" you). Really, I see no reason is to why they wouldn't register their own account.

Good luck -- and do read rules in the future.

Your very right dp accounts with good itraders or 500+ posts are very valuable to scamers because they have built up trust.

People are useing phishing and trojans and many other ways to take controll of dp accounts and as i see its a growing problem.

Ive even had people begging me to buy my account and ive recieved emails with fake logins from people claiming to be dp staff.

An inexperanced non net savvy person could and often times im afraid do fall victum to these scams..

10923874566 you can contact dp with the contact form but im afraid there isnt much else you can do.

Sorry this happened to you please be more carefull and perhaps read up on how to secure your system against hackers and how to avoid phishing ect.

Thank you for posting because if i see the person under your account trying to make a deal or buy or sell to/from me i will know to not deal with them.:)

Dare I say this? Dup account was made...Uh Oh! You should have contacted the webmaster and left it at that. The other way is to contact other DP members via MSN, Yahoo or any other IM and ask them to contact mods with the info you have.

I KNOW FOR A FACT, his account as hacked.

I know from a different forum, he hasn't been on MSN or the forum.

Also, the user who hacked the account typed differently to how the original user typed.

I made my suspicions in one of the threads the hackers made asking for asia reseller accounts, and then the person was complaining about slow download speeds, obviously overseas from America, where the rightful owner of the account lives

What seems to be the issue lately with some many peoples account being hacked? You all need to be smarter in the future by making passwords long and difficult and making sure you computer is virus and malware free. Keeping your computer clean is like taking a bath you should do it daily.

It's not really possible to "hack" an account. If anything has been hacked, it would be the forum's database of usernames and passwords. And I am fairly sure the passwords are encrypted anway, aswell as other security measures being employed. Someone must have simply guessed your password, or gotten it another way.

DP headquarters is located in San Diego? What a coincidence! I live in San Diego as well (Point Loma / Ocean Beach).

It isn't likely at all that he has been hacked. It is more likely that he would have given his password to someone else without realizing.

Off topic: You owe me $50.00. I've contacted you a ka-zillion times via email/PM - either had "I'll do it tonight." as a response or no response at all. I'm sure you've subscribed to this thread - so why not post it publicly? You owe me $50.00.

Edit: Thanks for the red rep Agent_Dweeb. I am not the scammer, you're the one that owes the $50.00 (or the edited content) - I paid in advance. ;)

Theres a lot of account hacking going on at the moment and its not always the original owners fault the hacker found out the password, hackers will always find out away. If the account has enough appeal the hacker will do anything to get the account so we shouldn't really hold the original account owner to blame. It's sad too see an accoun with 300+trader get hacked then banned, all that work gone to nothing, just because some hacker cant be bothered doing things the honest way.

    There not hackers lol
Say I knew your myspace/facebook password, I could just try that as your DP password and be in. Or if they tricked you into a site that logged password etc.
