Has anyone here ever encountered this situation? Today when reading my emails, I found an email from paypal saying: Your payment has been sent. I was kind of shocked because I had not purchased anything lately, and had not ordered any payments whatsoever. The email gave me all the details of the transaction and the name of the one who received the payment and the transaction number. After a while, i received a mail from an internet marketer thanking me for making a purchase of his product! It is then that i noticed that someone has hacked into my paypal account and made the purchase. Can anyone tell me how to handle this situation so i can get the money back?
Sounds like some elaborate phishing attempt...hope you didn't log into your paypal via the email link. You should change your paypal password immediately (log in from your browser)
can u able to see the resent transaction in you list better call paypal and tell your side thing,it will be the only way
Dispute the transaction and change your password. Better still, get one of those PayPal Fobs, I use it for ALL checks
Possibly a spyware stole your information and gave it to the ''human thief''. Report the case to paypal and the appropriate security agency.
contact paypal and see what they say and only person in loss will be the person who gave the product to the thief.
I would guess it was from a phishing scheme, I have yet to find a legitimate case of a paypal account being "hacked" per say. Report it to PayPal and see what they can do about it.
Yes, that's the stupid thing about Paypal; scammer will go free, you get your $ back and the seller is screwed. What kind of worthless thing is that? The scammer should be the one to pay and Paypal should spend money enforcing that. Punishing the seller is a real problem.
Agree, but what can Paypal or for that matter anyone do with the scammer who stole the product (nothing) ? Ethically seller should not be made to return the money. The fault lies more with the person who got his Paypal account hacked - you should be more careful.
Open an dispute instantly. And email the marketing company to ask them to check the IP address that is being used to sign up for the product.
