Someone got into my admin mail

Well this was interesting, I was out driving around in my wrx to come home and find several emails from my members complaining about an email that was sent out to them under the subject "3 hits per page" The funny thing is that I recently switched over to 3 hits per page to help speed up page load times, nothing to do with server useage. We are fine for the rest of the year! Plenty left....

The email instructed my members to go and click my ads! This is a complete TOS violation with adsense and I was seriously targeted. I issued a recal email, and got ahold of my server team. They cleaned it up and restored the admin servers back 2 weeks before the trojan had been introduced.

I have never seen anything like this nor did I anticipate attacks on my site. Why attack me guys?? I'm just trying to help people....

What do I do now? What else can I do besides issue an email retraction and answer all replies stating we did not send that email? We have the IP addresses of those that broke into our servers, but it turned out to be a proxy bounce... So we are in the process on contacting the proxy--- (good luck right) I also removed adsense from the suggested places in the fraudulent email.

I've been getting bombed with viruses on MY computer recently as my traffic picked up on my site. I actually got this one virus that was eating mother boards and periphs.. I'm using a psuedo computer now and I really dont know what to do.. Someone wants my site gone.

oh yeah now I got tons of pissed off members... that was a nice move whoever you are.. Thanks for making it harder to

-not lose my house to forclosure
-put gas in my car to get to work, bring child to school, pick up food etc
    -feed and cloth my family

I'm just a guy trying to provide for his family... and you are maliciously attacking me.

When you do stuff like this, that is where it hits.. Below the belt. If we can trace you, I am prosecuting you to the fullest extent. Pray I dont find you.

Chances are we will find you, I've already contacted authorities.

Well it did, and let me tell you it is NOT fun.. I spent the majority of the day filing legal papers and such rather than working online. There is a huge write up about it on sitejabber...

    To sum it up:

    10 more grey hairs

less people working for me now so more work for me

    increased security

pissed off members, only 3 opted out of 540

one actually made it a point to create threads about it and bad mouth me like I'm some kind of martyr.

I did my best to rectify it, but I'm sure theyre is still skeptics out there. Obviously. But you know what, be a skeptic. The functionality of the website was not affected by this attack other than possibly stepping on toes of members. I don't think most care about it, and accept the fact these things happen. The point is this, I stopped it from getting any worse and actually affecting the functionality while simultaneously there is 2 less hackers out there to attack YOUR site.. Your welcome! :)
