I think it'll be easy to take actions against him now. I just checked your blog (the new posts - personalized signposts) and he copied that too! This looks funny on www.labnol.com "Don't copy this blog Digital Inspiration LABNOL.BLOGSPOT.COM" You trapped him well
I had to because when I sent him an email requesting to remove my content, here's the reply I received: Domain http://www.labnol.com has not been mirrored with http://labnol.blogspot.com. someone has our site mirrored at http://labnol.blogspot.com. That is a problem with these free blog sites at blogspot. These poor people does not want to spend a penny and copy and spam accross others sites. I see this blogspot site spamming all over the internet. Someone has to nail this spammer to ground.
your blog is quite popular i think i have visited it from google try contacting the owner or visit coptscape and do something
Amit just mail his host with all your blog stats , also prove that your blog is a older one. Hope his site gets down instantly.
He's actually changed the link for the About us at the bottom of the page. Before it was linked to your Blogger profile but now shows Evan Williams profile, the same as the Author link.
I looks like all of the "archives" on the "bad" site do not exist. Seems he is only copying the most recent entries?
OK people, I contacted the abuse department of the web host and looks like the site is prominently removed. Thank you everyone and special thanks to Darren (http://problogger.net) for giving suggestions on how to convince the hosting company. Here's a copy of the email that I sent to the brinkster support. If you are also a victim, make sure that you include a ton of information to prove that the site is actually yours and it's old enough. From: Amit Agarwal <a.p.agarwal {at} gmail.com> Date: Jul 4, 2006 2:40 PM Subject: Complain of a website hosted on Brinkster To: , Dear Brinkster Support, I would like to report a site hosted on your webservers that is mirroring content from our website. Our website Digital Inspiration (http://labnol.blgospot.com) has existed since more than two years. To support our claim, here are some proofs: 1. We are on Web Archives http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://labnol.blogspot.com 2. Technorati Blog Search shows that 2000 websites link to our site http://technorati.com/search/labnol.blogspot.com 3. Alexa Rankings says the Traffic rank of our site is 8216 http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=labnol.blogspot.com 4. Google Search has given our site a Page Rank of 6 and they have indexed 17000 pages from our website: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:labnol.blogspot.com&btnG=Search Now someone has mirrored our website content including the design and hosted it on brinkster.com. The URL of the website in question is http://www.labnol.com This website is just a month old but has copied each and every story from our blog. As an example, you can see the screenshots at following url which prove that www.labnol.com is just a mirror copy of labnol.blogspot.com. We embedded a screenshot of our blog which now appear on this labnol.com mirror site http://www.labnol.com/labnol/2006/07/aboutcom-turn-off-this-frame.html Should you require any more information to support our claim, please let me know. I will happy to supply the information to you. Thank you, Amit Agarwal Owner, http://labnol.blogspot.com -------------------------------------------------------
I'm glad you got that taken care of. What a jerk. I had somebody hack into one of my websites and delete it all, so I know how violated you must feel. Wish you had his IP address somehow.
Congrats buddy better use copyscape from now, so you know if someone is still copying the content of urs and using on some other domains.
If It is still online, send a complaint to the Domain Registrair, and state your case - This is obviously a blatent Rip-off and they are trying to profit from your hard work. Every chance you get, you should embed something that ties every post to your site, so that they are advertising the fact that they are ripping you off. Go to the domain registrair and tell them the story, and I am pretty sure that they should act in your best interest. If you claim that the unknown party has stolen your good name, copyright content etc etc. You have a pretty strong case for the registrair to simply assign the name over to you!
I don't see it. All I get is "Service Unavailable" for labnol.com. In any case, this is the problem with the net and kids looking to make a quick buck with Adsense. They have no sense of ethics or long-term thinking. This has happened to 4 people already on DP.
