Someone bought my blogs name what should I do?

I have been running and adult blog on blogger since August. I finally got around to buy my own domain for it and I go to GoDaddy to purchase the domain I wanted.

Come to find out someone bought it before I could. Right now it is just a parked site.

Was wondering if I should maybe change the name of my blog just incase this dude tries to sue me for name infringement?

He bought the domain on October 6th. I have been using the name since the beginning of August and if you google my blogs name all the links lead to my site in one way or another none to the domain I wanted to purchase.

You can change the domain not like blogger, IMO it's okay.
or just register the .net, .org, even .info, dont worry just need to let all your visitors know you have moved to a new domain. :)

It appears that your domain name had expired and he picked it up, I don't think you will be getting it back.

I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as it's not a major business name like Google, Facebook, Myspace, etc...

A lot of people share the same domain names. If the .com is already taken then go for the .org but if both are taken I wouldn't bother with any other's like .biz, .info, etc. Usually crappy sites are hosted with these extensions.

If the .org and .com are taken then just add something to the keyword to make it unique so if the domain is ieatonions.com make it

    ieatonionsguide.com
    ieatonionstips.com
    ieatonionsfacts.com
    ieatonionshelp.com
    ieatonionsinfo.com
    ieatonionsreview.com
    ieatonionsnews.com
    ieatonionsresources.com
    ieatonionsstore.com
    ieatonionschoice.com
    ieatonionsx.com

    You get the idea?

    Good luck

You need to contact the domain owner and offer him to sell the domain to you.
Or you can offer a partnership with the domain owner.

Text book case of why you should spend the $10 in the first place and just secure your domain.
He can't sue your for infringement, at least he can't win just by comparing both start up dates.
Makes me wonder why you didn't just register it when you decided to call your blog the name ?

You are looking at this all wrong...nobody bought your domain...you never had a domain. Someone bought the domain that you intended to buy, but procrastinated and missed the opportunity...is more like what really happened.

If you want to change the name of your blog, that's up to you. Personally I probably wouldn't if it's doing O.K. the way it is.
Just chalk it up as a lesson learned and something that could have been avoided.

Exactly.... It is like buying a car or a house. You have been looking at this car or the house and thinking about buying it but you never made the investment to really do buy it and then one day you decide that You are ready( while you should have been already) and you find out that the house or the car was already bought by some one else who got to it, saw it and grabbed it while you were only thinking about buying it. Maybe not a perfect example but domains are like that and they don't cost as much as a house or a car to buy so if it is available then register it before some one else does. Even if you don't use it right away atleast you can park it and probably make some money off of parking if the domain is that good.

We can all say we wanted to buy finance.com or mortgage.com or money.com etc etc but too bad we all never got to because some one already got to it and grabbed them and now they are enjoying the rewards and we are not.

You can either contact him and kindly negotiate a sale or buy a similar domain. I would suggest not delaying because if you're searching for similar names, front-runners can snatch one from you before you make the purchase if you decide to sit around and think about it too long.
