Noppid, You might remember me, I started a thread in the html forum called is VB $160 better than phpBB. If you'll remember, you and others talked me into VB and i'm quite happy with it. However, I'm still waiting for google to find my forums, infact I just submitted an xml sitemap of the archives - google is still sending tons of visitors to old cached forum pages which sadly do not exist anymore. How long did it take to get the board you spoke of re-indexed? Also, did you change any of the VB settings, or did that happen right out of the box? My old phpBB (embedded in phpNuke) was mod-rewritten, there must have been a billion unnecessary pages in Google, like the members list and every user profile in the form of forums/member-Roze.html - maybe the spiders are skeptical of the importance of my new pages?
Google cannot index forums if you only allow members to view the forums. THis same theory applies if you have session ID's. If you would like me to take a quick look, pm me your url. Also, you can go over your forums as a robot in firefox with the user agent section installed. Basically, you see what the robot sees. This helped me get my forums as googlable as possible..
Hey what do you mean not finished? We never had a deal on That I should remove view forum or view topic you just wanted me to do seo friendly url's? arnt your forum seo friendly? Now after the work you demanded for extra work without asking anything I said I will do it? Since I have some important work in progress I was not able to complete that "EXTRA" work!
After payment it go to 'extra' ok, it is clear, thanks anyway. my fault I paid you before you start it.
Removing View Forum and View Topic name from the title, I dont know that! You told me to do mod_rewrite which I did without any problem! If you keep complaning this way! Then Take your 20$ back! If you want your money back I can do that! LOL mere 20$ bucks is nothing! Mod_rewrite I did it dint I?
I have a forum with about 160,000 posts and many are already indexed by Google. I am assuming the mod rewrite will make it get indexed even better. What about the old urls that are already indexed, will they no longer be valid?
old urls will also work along with new urls! There is no problem with having a mod_rewrite! Even my own forum has a mod_rewrite, but cannot find a way to remove view forum and view topic from the title! prolly when I know how to I will do it for 2003m2003 [free]
This may result in duplicate content and you may* start loosing your indexed pages. btw, mod_rewrite is not altering your url, its making it SE friendly. The original urls will be existing simultaneously. Regards, Tuning
Thanks Tunning bro! You got one green from me 2003m2003 can you give pm me your ftp details! I will finish that view forum and view topic removal now!
