I have a site _______ and i have been running past couple of years. I haven't updated the site for a while.

Today i just checked my site and just checked the source code of a web page in my site and i was shocked as i can see two publisher ids on a page. one is mine and the other I do not know.

I had 3 ad units on each page and some one (from the host I believe) changed the publisher id to theirs. only one ad unit had my publisher id pub-XXXXXXXX. the other two have "pub-XXXXXXXX" which is not mine. so, I checked the files and found they have been changed from Jan 2008. Yes. someone was enjoying my earnings past 10 months.

I feel, someone from the host provider has cheated me by changing the pub id. it is not the first time they have changed the id. my host didn't provided any valid reason and started blaming me.

So, how do we stop this. what's your suggestions?

BTW, check your web page whether somebody cheated you too :(

my host is quite okay other than this. also, I already paid for a year :( who knows we may face the similar problem on new host too. first thing i am going to do is encrypting my ad code. it may help little, i believe.

Delete all the ads and replace them. Website hijack is becoming so common these days

I have several hosts, recently one of these servers was hacked - probably through an error on my part, but that is unclear... I had several websites get messed up.

I took these actions. I changed the access passwords and made sure all of my files were not writable by anybody, but me.

You may want to make sure that your files cannot be written by outsiders as well and change your passwords.

    what makes you think so?

I have read about many such cases in the past, where hackers replaced some of the pub-id's on sites and the site owner didn't know for months.

it is easy money for hackers.

Let us know your host and that should be some publicity for them and prevent anyother host from doing so-if that is actually the case

Why not just contact Google? It's not like they can't get to the bottom of it. They won't tell you who it is, but they will do something about it... removing the persons incentive to steal.
