    Nice 2 see you all
I have a COmputer Technology forum

Its 3 months and there are no new posts
What I have to do to make my forum effective so that more and more people will join it and start posting ?

I am using SMF 1.1.8, should I change to any other forum like PHPBB3 ?

Friends, I am getting frustrated..every morning, I open my forum wishing that there will be any new post.....:(

What I have to do ?

well you need to pay people to post and maybe buy a forum to fill the forum up first.

I think the problem is you have no Itrader and you new. And people do not want to post 100 and not get paid.

Troy222, to be honest, 3 months is nothing. Its going to take at least a year to start getting traffic.

This is why around 85% - 95% of new forums close before they are 1 year old. Because people give up and close their site. Running a successful forum takes a lot of time a patience.

you should get good back links for your forums, then make good and informative topics by yourself, make topics and give the topics title and content to your friends and ask them to make threads on the given topic, when they make threads about your provided info, then reply to those threads by yourself, you alone can do nothing you need many good friends...

I say buy vbulletin and then start promoting like crazy. My forums activity increased when I converted over to vbulletin. You have to work HARD and promote like hell. Screw paying for forum posters. Do you think the most popular boards on the net paid for forum posters at first? No - Start interesting and helpful topics yourself to get things going. Reply to yourself with fake accounts if you have to. Look at forums in the same niche as you and see what they're doing - Go back in time and read their first posts on their forum when they first started out to see what was going on, and what they may have done for so many people to get there.

It takes time. Before anyone starts a forum, they need to commit a long term relationship with it.
