Some weird stuff happening in my city now, I am near Japan

I am from the city in China which is North Eastern part. Since today afternoon people are fighting or are in queue to buy SALT. The reason being our national television said last night that the nuclear reaction in Japan may have around 2% of chance affecting our city.

When I went to a super mall couple of hours before, all the stock of the salt was completely finished. Then people started buying Soya sauce, if no salt. What is this happening? What is this connection of SALT/SOYA sauce to a nuclear reaction :D

there could be reason that If any nuclear virus spread into air then everybody will lock your self into house and then green food could be affected but soya and Sault can stay for long time like month and year.

Potassium iodide helps to keep your thyroid gland from absorbing radioactive iodine.

Btw: Table salt only has a very small amount of Potassium iodide.

I check it online , and found the salt with iodine have a little affect to the nuclear reaction . so do not worry about that , and besides ,we will not buy salt if there is one day like that .

That's strange, but I've heard something just as weird concerning "radioactive" rain - apparently, the radiation's going to get absorbed into the clouds, and if the rain hits you, you're going to get contaminated.

Might just be a hoax - but best to keep your ears and eyes open nonetheless.

@China_girl, you better prepare yourself too. We can never tell what will happen next, it's always good to be ready.

hmm, but I dont think, the radiation crisis in Japan will affect your place, because you are too far, honey :)

Thatz weird, I never heard that about clouds or rain doing so much damage by just a drop of water, is it ?
Yes I have already taken precautions. I guess buying stuff like salt, sufficient enough, maybe because if the radiation starts flowing in the city, its better to stay at home with all your doors locked. So eventually salt will help you stay longer at one place ;)

im from phil also and yeah! no time to be panic since we are far from japan. even what the national television advice, its just like our country dont have the bright side. well as long as you are conscious on your environment that's fairly better! next to excellent.
