Some way to stop habitual thread bumpers?

There is only one thing that annoys me - folks who post threads and constantly bump their own threads. Occassionally it makes sense and is fine - but is there some way we could get a statistic for thread bumping such that either red rep results or the ability to bump threads dissolves for that user for at least a few days?

You see this in the sales threads most often - with services being the worst. One guy I note habitually bumps his own threads with "thanks for the orders via PM - anyone else?" - but you gotta know this is B.S.

Anyway - that's my rant and I'm sticking to it.

Might have to bump this thread tomorrow.

Genuine point. Unjustified thread bumping must be taken in to consideration and who bumps their own thread for no reason must be warned by moderators. Unnecessary bumping of old threads will push the genuine threads behind and cause unnoticed.

 

Just use the report post tool where you think someone is bumping the threads and getting annoying.

Oh yes, I was once banned for bumping threads. Oh, wait, that was when Shawn banned me as a joke!!!

LOL - so by replying to my own thread with nothing useful does that count as a bump? If so I did my duty in proving how annoying it can be.

 

Advertise it in your sig, or via AdWords.

If you get no replies, it's not interesting or your target audience is a lazy bunch of sods who don;t know how to search.
