Hi, I am having an unusual problem on my site...suddenly my traffik raised up...but i would n't find any real visitors on my site...According to me it is somethin ghosty thing rendering my site without any user-agent & other info... The IPs are something like this 38.98.19.105 38.98.19.96 38.98.19.109 38.98.19.101 38.98.19.83 38.98.19.123 The actual point i want to tell is my actual visitors are only 40 per day but Now I m getting over a 500 unique visitors a day which is unusual...this IP range varie from 0 to 255 values(Last IP bits) ... See this is not a bots problem the thing i want to know is this some search engine's updation taking place...or this are the bluddy scrappers who are taking data from your site...has anyone ever had faced this kind of problem...
what is your website like.... might be possible that some one is trying to extract the ideas from your site or someone(your competitor) wants to eat your bandwidth causing downtime or extra payment by sending some PROXY visitors... Post the URL....
I don' know who you are or what you are into but I did a reverse IP lookup and the IP resolves to some place in the US Capitol....you been doing things the government might want to look at?? Reverse DNS for 38.98.19.105 Generated by www.DNSstuff.com Location: United States [City: Washington, District Of Columbia] Preparation: The reverse DNS entry for an IP is found by reversing the IP, adding it to "in-addr.arpa", and looking up the PTR record. So, the reverse DNS entry for 38.98.19.105 is found by looking up the PTR record for 105.19.98.38.in-addr.arpa. All DNS requests start by asking the root servers, and they let us know what to do next. See How Reverse DNS Lookups Work for more information. I also checked a few of the others even though I knew they would end up in Washington DC again and they did. Have fun with that.
Resolving from Washington cant suggest that someone is being checked out, otherwise the same could be said for any capital of any country in the world. There will be some other explanation for it, that im sorry i cant help with but im sure it will be figured out before long.
Thats true, however the users' initial post if you read it..... and subsequent silence.... would make one wonder what was up. Needless to say I am in CYA mode.
I have seen a software able to send fake traffic to a site. It works by introducing initial and final range of IPs to be sent, in addition to a destination IP It is used to artificially boost your traffic, or as sort of spoofing attack.
