I have ran quite a few ideas for generating traffic and backlinks. My site is www.webmaster-files.com If anyone can recommend any other tips please post but these are what I have done so far: --Article Submission. --Directory Submission. --Partner Building with decent pr sites. --Free template releases with footer links including my php-fusion theme. --Lots of relevant content on the site --Forum sigs --Graphic submission with link to my site on freewebtemplates.com (around 1/4 of my traffic) Might be some other which I have done and can't remember but thats what comes to mind. I have loads of downloads on my site and lots of good quality templates but so far really quite poor traffic. Rough 60 uniques perday sometimes up to 100 sometimes down to 40. I have concidered the phpfusion may be holding my site back on the search engine rankings but has anyone got any tips for me? Should I just wait? Oh yeah any if you want to trade links pm me or if you just want your site added you can sign up at the site and go to the link submission page. I appreciate it.
You could submit to web2.0 directory/favorite lists such as del.ici.ous and other bookmark sharing sites
Isnt that "fake" traffic though. Not going to sign up to the site or download anything just pass through and eat bandwith?
Bookmarking sites are generally pretty well targeted traffic. Only people who are interested in the title of the bookmark would be clicking.
I submitted my site to stumbleupon once and I got warned by google for invalid impressions. If people think it is a good idea I may resubmit to it and delicous or whatever aswell but if the risk of being banned from adsense it would not be worth it,
I think delicious is different from stumbleupon. In delicious people have to actually click on a link to visit a site. Stumble upon just takes you to a random site.
How many articles on how many directories. How many BLs do you see via Altavista? How many to high PR or at least some PR directories. How many BLs do you see via Altavista? How many and how long? How well indexed? Relevant to who? Who is your target audience? How many? KW oriented? Depends! How long has it been since you have executed your campaign?
Mikka, you said that you established partnership with high PR websites. Ok, I saw that on your homepage. Also related sites section, have only 3 links and page to them looks like http://www.webmaster-files.com/weblinks.php?cat_id=2 . Morevover even links on that dynamic page aren't static. They are http://www.webmaster-files.com/weblinks.php?cat_id=2&weblink_id=1 (so like this) As for me I'll never exchange links with such a site. Keep that in mind! About partnerships. Looks good overall, but what amount of traffic do they get and what amount you received from it , ? Actually you send them nothing , cause your traffic small by itself. And number of your partners just too small. Consider bying some links from high traffic site or other way to convince them get you a link, like free template and so on.
Also you have just 8 articles ? Lots of content ?! Not! And all of them buried under dynamic urls . Please reconsider whole structure of the site. It's not se friendly at all.
I am not sure , but site looks overall like 1-2 weeks old. Your traffic not bad for this time, however please take a look on above suggestions.
I did just have static pages for each page and well optimized but takes ages to add content and looked a bit messed up. I only actualy wrote and submitted 2 articles and they spread around a bit. I submitted to about 100 of the top pr se friendly ones. Its been on this new design about 2-3 weeks i think then up for another 3 weeks on the old design before. The relevant link page is more of a gimmick to get people to sign up and submit a site. I am not too interested in that part but the partnership panel is the main people who partner my site. Most of them friends, being the reason they are partnering with a new site. Will maybe be best to leave it for now and wait to see if traffic increases. So far lots of my traffic comes from freeewebtemplates.com but the number coming from google is increasing slightly. I hear you on the dynamic page content and bad se, as in having same titles but i don't know if I can do much about that when using a cms. If not using a cms then the site is rather impossible to manage. By lots of content I wasn't actually referring to the web term as meaning text I was more meaning in general and incorporating in that the number of downloads as I have added quite of lots of them so far. Inlcuding 70 very good php scripts. I think my best plan of action at the moment could be the release of more php-fusion skins, possibly phpbb skins or skins for other cms or forums. This seems good as a pre-existent site with possible good pr can choose to switch straight to the skin and therefore a good backlinm is gained straight away. I also see a lack of good skins for these things.
Provide an incentive for people to refer a friend. I don't know if you have the technical or financial capacity to do it, but it could be a good way to jumpstart your audience. You could offer a couple of different prizes to top referrers, and keep a list up online of who's the best referrers. Get your visitor base to work on your behalf, and compensate them for their efforts. Cheers, Dave Cole Executive Editor | AffiliatePrograms.com
