I run a fairly busy forum (about 120k adsense impressions per day, although up to 180k according to analytics). Typically getting a CTR of about 0.01%, but considering 90% of my traffic is recurring traffic. Typically I get around 5k-7k unique users visiting the site per day. Anyway, I want to focus the adverts more on guests, leaving registered members with less. I'd appreciate some tips, reviews and hints with my placings. I'm not too disappointed with my returns from Adsense, they are around £300 ($500) per month. That isn't too bad. However I'm always open to ideas on how to tweak this further, given we are a non profit site, and any cash we make goes back into development, and/or to charity. http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk
It looks very good, very clean. Have you considered any alternatives to adsense? I would certainly try buysellads.com if I was you. Also look at affiliate products to promote, perhaps through a pop-up for guests.
I just use google adsense because it is easiest. I'm kinda nervous about trying another program. I'm open to better knowledge though. One criticism I have of Adsense is that a hell of a lot of the ads are totally irrelevant to what people are likely to click. The demograph of my site is 95% under 50, probably 75% under 35, the type of people who are not going to be wanting to buy stairlifts and things. I should say it's 0.1% not 0.01% CTR.
