    Well the real terms would be SE friendly links.

    The first link: www.example.com is considered to be SE friendly because it is a direct link to the site. For Google purposes a link like this will also pass PR from the one site to the other, and be easily seen as a backlink.

    Your second example is a redirect link which is not considered to be SE friendly. It will cause problems with PR and might not even be considered an actual backlink (depending on the SE).

    Cool, thanks.

    I'm developing a advertising packages giving webmasters the option to select whether they want their advertisements to be "Seach Engine Friendly" or "Not Search Engine Friendly", just in case they need it to be different. So if they advertise for a year with a SE friendly link, it could help their PR etc.
