Hello everyone, I was sent a check by adworld media, a few months back since I did not receive it, I complained after a few days they sent me a scanned image of the check they sent me, cashed!
Someone had stole the check before getting to my house and cashed, now I have no idea what to do... Please anyone who can give me any helpful advice, is greatly appreciated.

Contact your local police and tell them about it. It might be worth informing the post office that delivers your mail also.

Wasn't your name on it? How could they cash it without your ID?

How can they cash it with your name on it? Maybe if you only put your initials (example: G Mayne) they sent it to someone with the same.
Really unlucky, next time fill your whole name out.
How much was on the cheque?

If a check is crossed and comes with your name, no one can encashed it for whatever reasons unless it happens that they have exactly your name. This is definitely very strange.

Do you know where the check was banked in ?

It is very easy to cash a check that does not belong to you at some of the shadier check cashing places here in the US. Many of them don't require an ID. You are supposed to have their ID, but some of the worse ones don't bother to check.

Sounds like a scam that was going around for awhile. But you can't cash a check unless you show the ID. And most large chain banks will not accept checks with first initial and name you must write full name.
