Hello World. I do hope this is the right section for these questions. I have like four site flipping questions I need to ask yall experts. Well, here goes: 1. How can I offer free hosting to my buyer? Will I have to come out of my pocket to pay for it or is there some way the hosting provider can do that? 2. If I just sign up for the cheap hosting (which I am able to afford), do customers have to pay for their first month or is there a way I can offer the first month free without having to come out of my pocket? 3. For a newbie (such as me), what is a great BIN price to set for your very first site flip at Sitepoint/Digital Point/eBay? 4. Can someone direct me to an easy to understand, step-by-step tutorial or whatnot on how to transfer the site to your buyer? Video is BEST, but text instructions with screenshots would do nicely. If text only, make it so that I'm not left scratching my head haha. Thanks in advance, guys!
There are a lot of things you need to learn before trying to flip a site. You don't understand hosting or even cPanel. Flipping sites involves understanding how a site makes money, and how you can increase that income before flipping it. I would suggest building a few of your own sites before trying something complicated that requires investing money.
1. You dont need to offer free hosting. (See my answer to #2) If you want to do that for some reason, most cheap shared hosting accounts come with unlimited add-on domains which you can utilize, although I don't recommend it. 2. When I sell a site I usually tell the buyer that I will continue to host the site for up to 2 weeks to allow them ample time to transfer the files over to their own host. With this, I use a WHM resellers account and with each site I create, I make a seperate cPanel login account. When someone buys the site from me, I just give them the cPanel login info and let them go from there. 3. You can't ask people what sort of BIN price you should ask for something you don't even have. It all depends on the domain name, website that's there, pagerank, traffic, revenue, etc. etc. etc. There are too many factors, but you will learn what counts after you're in the business for some time. 4. If you're planning to sell either websites or domain names, I suggest you read the article linked to in my signature about protecting yourself from getting ripped off. I hope this info helps.
Thanks for the answers, yall. I have two more that I just came up with: 5. What is a good length of time to run my Sitepoint/Digital Point/eBay auctions? 6. What is the starting bid yall recommend? Thanks to all who have helped, and thanks in advance for those who will help me more.
Look, NOBODY can tell you how much you should start your bid off at or how much a site would be worth. It varies from site to site. It's like baseball cards- some are worth 5 cents and others are worth tens of thousands of dollars.
I wasn't trying to be rude- just trying to explain it in a simple way. Sorry if that's how it came across.
If you are flipping a site we will assume that you bought a site and increased its level of traffic and/or revenue and are now trying to resell it at a higher price than you bought it for, due to the improvments you made. If the site is a income producing site, a general BIN price could be 12 x its monthly income. A starting price would be a price you think would get people to start bidding and set a reserve price at the ammount you are not willing to sell less than. As an example, I just bought the sites in my signature for $500 a piece. They are each earning arround $150 a month. I will attempt to increase profits on the sites to $1000/mo each and try to sell them for about $10,000 each. As far as auction time its all up to you the longer you list it the more exposure you will get. However a 7 day auction usually works well for me. But JWRmedia is right we cant provide you a more detailed answer if you dont give us more detailed info. Good Luck
