Some questions regarding links

I use the SEO elite program to find out what backlinks my competitors have. I see that they have very few - so their SEO strategies must be in their content/keyword density on their site etc...

My question; is it worth looking to buy some decent links to my site? Or perhaps buying an article in a high ranking website/blog? The buying links section here seems to be full of people offering me 1000 articles or a million backlinks - but surely this is just bad in the long run as google will work it out and my ranking will suffer?

I'm pretty new to this, I know a lot of it is trial and error but what do people think? I am most grateful for any replies.

Content is the main factor in search results, anyone who ever tells you other wise is completely insane. ;) However, keyword density is something you don't need to even worry about. In fact, forget the entire phrase all together. You can review why in the article Keyword Density of Non-Sense by DR. E. Garcia

if you have comparable content, and they have no links, then get links and you win :)

you dont have to buy them there are plenty of other ways.

Be sure that your primary keyword(s) for each page is/are:

    • in your title
    • in your URL — for example, www[dot]yoursite.com/keyword(s).html

These two simple items can be big-time tiebreakers.

i would not buy any links from anyone claiming to get you thosands or millions of backlinks. googd links dont come that easy. yes, you can buy articles/reviews on a quality site but make sure that site has only related content and not selling links/articles to just about any niche. google coming down hard on paid links and you need to be careful where you buy your links from.

there are lot of ways to get free backlinks. one is by commenting on related blogs that is dofollow. just search for blogs in your niche and make comments on blog articles. if your comment adds value to the blog, blog owner will approve your comment and you will get related backlink

    There are 2 ways:

    1. Paid link: you need few backlinks from PR4+ sites.
    2. Free link: you need hundreds or even thousands of backlinks.

... depend on competition of keywords.

Ignore the above poster, you goal should always be quality over quanitity when it comes to backlinks. The linking website's content should be directly related to yours. Relevancy is an important factor in obtaining a quality backlink. In theory, if you provide rich unique content that is useful or entertaining to people you'll naturally build the proper backlinks from your web visitors.
