You should look into other ad networks that payout at less amounts, you need to earn $100.00 USD with AdSense before you get paid, they do not pay via paypal. You get your money by check or direct deposit in the US, not sure about non-US publishers. I would look into www.adbrite.com
If you have a lot of members and an active forum, you can do well with AdSense. However, I don't think you can sign up yourself if you are 17. You'll need a parent to sign up.
