Hello all I am working on a php script which will be an alternative to WHMCS and I have some questions which you people, being very qualified and experienced in web hosting, should be easily able to help me with (1) Generally speaking, can you please point out some flaws or drawbacks of WHMCS which you would like to see (in say my software), this also applies to other billing and hosting sign up software like clientexec or whm autopilot etc (2) This is pertaining to account suspension and deletion. If a customer is due to pay his monthly dues say 3 days ago, (or even more) then my script can flag that account as a possible to-suspend customer. And similarly if the monthly due date has passed by more than a week ago (and was flagged as a possible to-suspend account), then it should be flagged for deletion. For these possible suspension and possible deletion accounts, should I merely inform the administrator that so-and-so accounts should be suspended. Or should I automatically suspend the account as well so that admin has less work. And again, if I am informing the admin and suspending the admin, should I also send an email to the customer automatically, or leave it to the admin to decide what is to be done. Which approach do you think would be better. (3) For domains registration, I am adding enom account support for registration and deletion, should I add more domain types and which ones should be added (4) For domains I am currently having the following system: Domain credits. Basically one domain credit can be used for purchasing one domain. All domain Extensions thus have one price for purchasing a single domain credit. If a host wishes to give a free domain, then there is provision of domain credits at sign up being set to one (for one free domain etc) I want to ask if this is a good system, or if there should be differently priced TLDs and no system of domain credits (5) For the payments, currently I am only adding Paypal support, that I think is what most hosts use, but again, feel free to point out if I am wrong here and more gateways should be supported (also in this case pls point out which gateways are most popular and should be supported) Any advice and suggestions, even unrelated to the above queries will be welcome Thanks Arvind
You have to know that not every one wants/can use paypal - adding moneybookers and alertpay is the way forward. just my 2 cents
