I read in this forum about reciprocal links and many times it was mentioned that reciprocal links are not good. I dont understand the logic behind this. Can anyone explain why reciprocal links are not good?

You are what you link to. If you link to a casino site, then you are endorsing it.

Reciprocal links are not boo-hooed by Google. This is a common misconception. They only dislike excessive reciprocal linking or excessive link exchanges.

If you are using automated software in pursuit of link exchanges, then you are doomed. They can spot this activity.

Reciprocal linking, if done in moderation, is okay. Govern who you link to by what you think would be useful for your visitors. Throw in non-reciprocated links into the mix as well. And hand code the page with non-templated linking structure (no patterns).

Well, they are good, but the problem is that your outgoing links increase considerably.. You can do atleast 2-4 link exchanges for each of your site ;) I prefer a 3 way LE
