Some one dublicated my site!

My site was duplicated one to one by someone else. My current site is www.infatex.com I had this website since 2001. Couple days ago when I searched for “infatex” on google, I noticed the identical site showed up in the Google serps with the same Title and description, only URL was different it was www.infatex.net When I clicked on the site, I was stunned, it was the identical copy of my infatex.com site. The links though, are pointing to my site. Now I have a question, do you think someone did it on purpose to piss the Google off? Is my site will have duplicate content issue? I tried to find who was the owner of the site, and contacted him/her, but no one responded to my messages. Will my site loose the rankings?

    Please advice!

yes they are right. no need to worry since all the links are going back to you :D as what they said, he is giving you back links...

but then, i understand the feeling of some one who work hard for something and yet it was copied by someone else.

You should first of all perform a WHOIS to this domain, and get the contact info.

If the site is not yours, it may cause you some harm in the future.

Someday the owner of this site may point the links outside it, and steal your customers.

Since it's completely the same, for the point of promotion, it will help you a lot. The only thing is that, if you are accepting money via the web, make sure the duplicate site's payment come to you credit card. Or carry out a WhoIs check, and report to google, and some official supervisors to ban it.

I think reporting it to Google is the best way. Because Google bot may think that you created another site just to boost your rankings and use the same content there. In that case, you may get a penalty..

Take action to get the domain from the guy as soon as possible and report it to Google.

At the moment as you said site has same data so there will be no probs but in future it may create alot of problems for you like if the person claims that original site is created by him and you copied it then the issue can go against you as well you reputations and customers will be distracted

Maybe ask this person to change his design about so it's not EXACTLY like yours. Sure, he's linking back to you, but that can change quickly, and over time there may be 'website confusion' between the two of you, something you certainly don't want.

Im just surprised a search marketing specialist does not know what duplicate content on another URL will do to the primary domain

    and

does not know to do a simple whois to find out Roger took their site

    Weird

try your best to get that resolved because it could cause you a lot of problems in the future.

you can use the internet wayback machine to show that you had your content since 2001

    http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.infatex.com

HINT You should probably get rid of the hidden text before you report him to google

First thing you should do is send a DMCA to the hosting company.

This should see the site taken down almost immediately.

Send and email and certified snail mail.

Get a read response for your e-mail if you can.

Follow up about the email about an hour after sending, with a phone call to the hosting company.

    Good luck
