Someone copied my website, so bad was their job that they copied my Google Analytics as well and that’s how I found out about it. I have their email address from whois and of course I have the site address itself. I am worried because in their urge to copy my site they left the banner as well as my Adsense publisher ID. If they start clicking away then I might get in trouble very soon. So what do you suggest I do? Email the scrapper and google? What should I say? Thanks FFMG
Dear Google, Someone stole my content and are displaying my ads on their site. Heres the URL, what dod I do about it ? Tell Google before the web designer, then inform their hosts They must experience this all the time.
Report it to there host, asking them to take appropriate action. Then email google about the situation.
I agree with what has been said. Alert Google first. Then alert their host. If host is in the US that should get site taken down. What a scumbag. Shannon
It is a compliment. But with my Adsense banner still up I think this is a bit too much of a compliment FFMG
I have had good luck dealing with American and English hosts. Hope Australian host is equally cooperative. Keep us posted. As webmasters we need a list of web savy lawyers who excel in DMCA issues and who have a form cease and desist letter ready to go for nominal fee. Shannon
What we really need is a stock, fill-in-the-blank DMCA cease and desist letter, kind of like how you can buy stock wills and rental agreements. Anybody know of such? Every webmaster's toolkit should probably have one of these and a stock takedown request notice for web hosts.
That would be nice to scare the would be copiers away. I don’t really want to get lawyers involved because I am sure that it is nothing more than a kid who saw a web design he liked, (although I ask my self why). FFMG
I doubt much would happen to him, (or her). He probably will take the site down and copy another one and hope not to get caught. He was fairly unlucky, (or stupid), that he left my Google Analytic code in the footer of the page. But I have sent emails to Google.com and their webhost. I have also sent them a letter telling them to take everything down until my, (non existent), lawyer contacts them. I will keep you guys posted. FFMG
Just for the record, this is the reply that I got from the guy. I am still waiting to see what Google and the host will say. It might be a bit late as the site no longer look the same already. I wonder what site he took. But the new design looks very amateurish. FFMG
