The most important part of getting good income is to increase traffic. So assuming you are already working on increasing traffic, here are some of the tips that will help you get good returns: 1. Use section Targeting. By using section targeting, a set of special comments provided by adsense, you tell adsense ad serving robots to serve ads relevant to the sections of your page. More relevant the ads are, the probability of getting clicks is more. 2. Most expensive Ads are served in the first ad unit of your page order. So Place the first Ad unit in the highly visible area. You could use services like crazyegg to find the highly visible areas of your site. 3. I suggest to use 2 Ad units. Instead of 3. I don't know why, but the cost per click when I placed 2 Ad units was higher then that of 3 Ad units. I tried single Ad unit, but CTR dropped. So 2 is my number. 4. Your source of traffic plays an important role in the cost per click. I have found that traffic from sites like stumbleupon and other SN generates a very low value clicks, while organic traffic from search engines give more value per click.
