Some noobie help with Wordpress

I just finished setting up the default version of WordPress, no customizations or anything. I have a few questions:

1 - I want to remove the big blue header completely.

2 - I want to remove the right nav and search completely.

3 - I made my first post but for some reason WordPress makes some big spaces between the words, how do I stop it from doing this?

4 - Is there a way to expand the white area (which is on top of the grey area, and where the text is) of the blog to make it cover more width?

    Thanks for your help.

Could you link to your blog - would make it easier to help!
I can picture the Wordpress default theme but it's hard to suggest unless I can see it in action as you have it!

That is the default WordPress theme. Search around and find a theme that you like. Then upload and activate.
