Shawn stated numerous times that being a premium member doesn't guarantee you any privileges . However it seems that some members can brake the rules and nothing happens to them . Here's a eye striking example . In December 2010 a mod posted that she's shocked by the number of duplicate threads in BST . Action was taken and infractions where given you truly got 2 infraction points and a lot of premium members got the baned for quite a long time . Also all the duplicate threads where merged . However it seems that the rules don't appy for everyone . Example sar420 - a member of the community seems to be more equal then the rest of us since he has 3 threads with the exact same subject in the same section : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2164941 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2047832 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2013161 Any mod or admin would respond by this words : "Report it" . Well i did report it almost 4 days ago . And the response ? Nothing . Why is this happening corruption or lack of skill ???
I understand you have a issue with Sar420 but the real reason why many threads don't get into action is maybe because there only a bunch of mods that are really moderating. Out of 20, 10 or 12 are those who hardly come to Dp and there are some who have been offline for years.I think more mods must be hired to cope with the forum.
All you need to do is use Report Post option. There are a lot of reported posts, so they aren't all handled instantly. Btw - the phrase "more equal" doesn't even make sense grammatically.
I have reported it almost 4 days ago . The maximum response time is 48 hours from what I've seen in my time here , often they respond to tickets in under 4 hours . Are you seriously saying that no one has bothered to look at the tickets in such a long time ?
There is no specific timeframe. Whoever told you that everything is done within 48 hours was mistaken. I didn't say no one looked at any reported posts in the last 4 days, but it's quite possible no one looked at your reported post in the last 4 days.
No one told me it's just what I've seen . That time frame is based entirely on my observations which may be inaccurate You say that it is possible for reports to be ignored for even 4 days . Aren't the mods treating the reports on a first-come , first-served basis ? I mean that has been the standard practice with support tickets AFAIK .
It would be silly to have a rule that moderators must handle everything in the order received. This would mean if it was something they couldn't do themselves, or were waiting for another mod to look at something, they wouldn't be allowed to handle any other reported posts until that one was finished.
I can't really imagine a situation where they would need assistance but exceptions do arise . In that case you just give that report a special status or something like that (not very familiar with vBuletin but I'm guessing this can be done) . The first-come , first-served would just be the general rule to keep some sort of order either that or they would have to go trough them based on the type of report submitted (spam , flames , insults , duplicates , etc) but since there is no option to put a category tag on a report that is not the case . Personally I would never give my staff complete freedom in their actions no matter how small , some guidelines are better then no guidelines at all IMHO .
In vBulletin when viewing reports (I assume you use the thing which posts reports into a separate sub-forum) they are listed in chronological order, so...
Thanks Apocalypse for being so caring (whining). I'll be more careful in future ApocalypseXL for President!
Sorry man , i didn't mean no harm , I just saw your thread and remembered you had a similar one in November . Since Sarah made it harder for me to sell my sig for beer the subject i've become a bit bitter about this .
